Secrets to BlackBerry Prices and Types

Bookmark and Share

There are a number of types of BlackBerry phones available to you. The ones that I recommend looking at are the Bold 9780 and 9650, the Curve 9330 and 9300, the Storm 2, and the Style. If you take out a two-year contract from Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc. you are able to purchase your BlackBerry at a reduced rate. The following prices are the current price if you purchase the phone directly from your local service provider store:
The Storm 2 (Verizon) is $200The Bold 9650 (Verizon) is $30The Curve 3G 9330 (T-Mobile/ Verizon/ Sprint) is $50The Bold 9780 (T-Mobile) is $100The Style (Sprint) is $50The Bold 9650 (Sprint) $200

All the above phones support BlackBerry's latest operating system (version 6), have 3G connectivity, WiFi and have a touch pad cursor. Recently BlackBerry announced a new addition, the much-anticipated touch screen 4G Bold 9900. The Bold 9900 is sure to be impressive and will be running on the soon to be launched operating system 7 and have 4G connectivity.

The current Bold and the Curve are very similar in many respects, both from a physical and technical stand point. The Bold has a slightly premier look to it, sports a faster operating system, and has a marginally better user interface (very similar). Some users find the Curve occasionally 'freezes' under pressure and has to reboot to unfreeze. However, most users love their Curve and have no issues. Both phones have the popular QWERTY physical keyboard making text messaging and emailing quick and accurate.

Blackberry is a popular choice phone particularly in the corporate sector due to the effectiveness of BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) ability to synchronize work email accounts, contacts, calendars, etc. In addition, the robust design of the phone, long-lasting battery (13 standby hours and 6 hours of talk time with the Bold), and strong security features appeal to this sector. BlackBerry Messanger (BBM) is a popular instant messaging system unique to BlackBerry phones allowing users to send instant messages to friends anywhere in the world. This feature appeals particularly to the younger generations, hence, making BlackBerry phones a popular choice.

The Storm 2 is a much improved phone from the original Storm, which suffered from a non user-friendly touch screen that was plagued with 'bugs'. The Storm 2 has a new SurePress touch screen (3.3 inches, 360 x 480 pixels) that presses down with a click sound simulating a physical button feel. The 3.2 mega pixel camera is a little disappointing producing low quality images for a phone that has potential to sport strong multimedia features.

The BlackBerry Style is the first clamshell design phone from BlackBerry that features a full QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard is similar in design to the BlackBerry Torch, giving you a slightly cramped feel due and the keys are not raised much making it a little harder to type using feel. The Style remains an innovative, compact phone with reasonable multimedia features. This phone is a good choice entry-level phone and appeals to a wide range of users.

In summary there is the Bold, Curve and Style that are good options for you if you are looking for a phone that has most likely the best physical QWERTY keyboard, strong security, BlackBerry Enterprise Server synchronization, BlackBerry messenger, robust design, and good battery life. Prices for these phones are substantially less if you take out a contract (2 year contract usually), as can be seen above.
