Like to Save Money, Time and Frustration? Visit a Retail Store Such As a Target For Wireless Service

Bookmark and Share

One thing that I have noticed is that people are generally unaware of the activation centers that are integrated into large retail stores, but this will change as time goes on. Why?

These large retailers are blowing every stand-alone cell phone store out of the water!

It used to be that if you went into a Target, Walmart, or even a Best Buy you'd get far from a great experience activating your cell phone service. No longer should that be a concern. Now, if you stroll into one of these retailers you will notice that they have a highly specialized team that is dedicated to working with cell phone service and contracts.

In fact, these representatives seem more versed in the "helping" part of your activation process. This, I think, is directly related to the fact that they are not just standing around waiting for people to come and get phones, they are actively seeking out customers to help the guest experience be more comfortable and efficient.

Here's the best part...

I'll use Target and a Verizon corporate location as an example here:

Verizon corporate location pricing on the LG Octane - $150

Target Mobile pricing on the LG Octane - Free!

By the way... I actually called to check these prices and double/triple checked as I inquired so to be sure that I understood the out-of-door pricing.

This is simply too big of a price difference to ignore! And, NO MAIL IN REBATES at these retailers. Just walk out with free phones, and forget the paperwork involved with mail-in rebates. It's okay to actually take a moment and smile while you sit here reading this... how was it? A relief? To say the least it is.

It's obvious that these types of locations are attacking the wireless industry with one thing in mind... be the one stop shop for their customers by over delivering in their customer service, and have industry leading price points.

Now, I get that price isn't the only deciding factor during your search for the best phone, but with all due respect, I think that these type of activation centers are noteworthy when you are considering your purchase. The pricing, the over-delivery in helping with the shopping experience, and the unbiased environment is, to me, a more modern and less pressured.

One way to find out if your comfortable with getting your phone at one of these locations is to simply visit a location and shoot the breeze about phones, or anything else. Get to know the person, and see if they add that value to your shopping experience. Value in your experience at the store makes it much easier to have a go-to place, and that's what it's all about these days... finding great value at the point of sale.

Never forget though, that your corporate locations are absolutely experts at what they do. And in some cases offer opportunities to service you with help sometimes only they can provide. I only suggest you consider your options when you are ready to buy due to the savings and fresh approach to the sales process these new retail locations offer.
