Nokia has announced it will be unveiling something in Athens on May 17, 2011 - will it be its first Windows Phone 7-powered device? Published on May 10, 2011
It looks like Nokia will be unveiling something big as the company has told us to 'save the date'.
The Nokia invite found by DailyMobile (see image), which states the event will be happening in the beautiful city of Athens, Greece, gives little else away.
What will we see? If we factor in a later event Microsoft has planned for May 24 - its announcement likely to be about the Mango update - it would make sense for Nokia to take care of its own handset launch.
What is Mango, besides a tasty fruit? It's a major update that adds multi-tasking, barcode scanning, as well as a great deal of streamlining to an already fluid operating system.
We said in our look at Mango: 'Microsoft really has a mountain to climb if it is to become the top of the mobile food chain, but whilst some believe it may never achieve the best sales, it is certainly proving it can challenge its competitors as the best platform to use, and that is regardless of your stance on whether you are an Apple or Microsoft person.'
We can't help but feel we would have seen more 'fireworks' and both companies shouting from the rooftops about their collaborative effort is finally here, though.
Still, other 'rumblings' we can't mention would also suggest a Nokia Windows Phone 7 device announcement is really not far away.
Unless we hear more, all we can do is wait patiently until May 17.
