RIM has released the Playbook on 19 April 2011 then and in the span of a month's Playbook has been successful as much as 250,000 units. The amount is equal to the result of the sale of Motorola Xoom for 2 months since its launch on 24 February. Yes, Motorola CEO Sanjay Cha on April 28, then claimed to have sold 250,000 units of Xoom. This means RIM is doing the job they are 2 x better than Motorola in selling their first tablet.
RIM released the Playbook with 3 different models according to memory size, 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB. Of these three models, the 64 GB version is the most widely sold that 84% of the model that was sold, followed by a 32 GB version with 71%, and 14% of the 16 GB model has been sold. Model 16 GB is the version the least sold probably due to having memory at least also because is a problem in the software that makes the RIM had to pull back the 1,000 unit Playbook 16 GB some time ago.
Despite their initial review that is less good, seems to not reduce the interest of prospective buyers tablet to vote other than tablet Playbook. Unfortunately it does not occur on Xoom that seems difficult to attract prospective buyers. This, according to analysts because Motorola too quickly released a tablet-based Honeycomb when the OS is still unstable and many bugs. Not to mention the problems of crash suddenly that still exist in the Honeycomb. However, Google has released the update 3.1 to improve performance and capability of Honeycomb which hopefully can make OS becomes more stable.
